CABTAS Annual General Meeting 2019

CABTAS successfully conducted its annual general meeting on March 16, 2019 at 2400 Alta vista Dr., Ottawa. Representatives from more than 50 households attended the meeting. The meeting primarily focused on the CABTAS updates on past and current activities, achievements and shortcomings in the process of providing voluntary services to the Community Members by its Board of Directors, Area Representatives and the helping organizations.

The meeting was conducted under the active leadership of Sudesh Gurung, the current Secretary of CABTAS. Mr. Santa Man Rai, Settlement Counsellor, Settlement and Integration, from Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO) shared some of the ongoing programs of OCISO targeted to provide assistance to immigrants. Participants were handed over brochures and cards to create awareness and share information at the same time. Similarly, Mr. Sudesh Gurung, currently working as a Multi-cultural Health Navigator for the Nepali Speaking Community at Ottawa Newcomer Health Center, displayed some banners and distributed some brochures to the participants. They were informed on the role of multi-cultural health navigator and its benefits to the community.

Mr. Brian Khadka, the President of CABTAS presented a detailed report on the given areas: CABTAS Activities and Achievements in 2018; Financial statement from November 18, 2017 to March 15, 2019; Amount raised and handed over to the bereaved families in 2018; and some Future Activities.

Mr. Hari Bajgai and Ms. Januka Adhikari expressed their support and solidarity to CABTAS on behalf of the Community. A short interaction and feedback session took place before the meeting was formally concluded.

The participants were entertained through two dance items performed by small children from Let’s Dance Group, followed by serving hot pizzas, tea and coffee to all the participants.
