Let's Dance
CABTAS has launched a few programmes for youths with the objective to encourage, build leadership qualities and motivation to focus on their goals for promising careers and successful lives. Let’s Dance is one of the projects run by CABTAS in collaboration with Ottawa Community Immigrant Serving Organization (OCISO) through the funding provided by Community Foundation of Ottawa (CFO).
The dance program is free and open to all the interested Bhutanese-Nepalese youths from age groups ranging from 5 to 20. It’s conducted every Saturday at Charles H. Public School, 2605 Alta Vista Dr, Ottawa, Ontario.
CABTAS highly believes in building leadership qualities in youths. The motto of dance class is mainly to help youths gain self-confidence and provide opportunities to build leadership qualities in them. The dance class is also
a common platform where youths can share their success stories, and also discuss their problems and concerns freely and openly. Besides, the dance class has become an excellent platform for youths to learn and preserve Nepali cultural songs, dances and even language in their generations as well as to pass over to the future generations in this great multi-lingual and multi-cultural country like Canada.
Let’s Dance Goals
1. Have youths participate in the different cultural events within the city.
Our first priority is to first make youths able to integrate themselves into
their own community which will ultimately help them integrate and expose
into the larger communities.
2. The best performer of each semester would have an opportunity to get
enrolled in the professional dance class. Those youths will be able to learn
new styles of dances, and they will bring back those qualities into the community.
Every year, two youths from dance class who perform well will be upgraded to a
new mentor for other youths which will give them opportunities to learn leadership
qualities.
3. Let’s Dance members conduct and perform annual cultural program every year to
entertain the community members and the guests.
