A huge presence of audience at the Annual cultural program organized by Canadian Bhutanese Association (CABTAS), Ottawa, astounded the organizing committee. The program hall at Jim Durrell was crowded with guests, participants, and the spectators- old and young. The hall glittered with cultural attires worn by the audiences. Women wearing traditional costumes such as colourful saris with ornaments, bangles and long necklaces, and young ladies with saris, kurta surwals and lenghas, and the children with lenghas and kurta surwals added extra glamor to the show. Similarly, some men wearing Daura Suruwal and Dhaka Topi reflected the cultural attires of Nepali people.
CABTAS organized this annual cultural program with the given objectives: to remind the young Bhutanese Nepali Speaking generation on the culture and tradition of southern Bhutanese people in Canada; to create awareness on the need to preserve culture and language of Bhutanese Nepali Community in Canada; and finally to entertain the Bhutanese Nepali Community and the guests through Nepali cultural songs, dances, and also by sharing greetings and words of encouragements to one another.
The program was well organized and coordinated by the cultural committee under the active coordination of the dance coordinator as well as the current CABTAS Secretary, Mr. Sudesh Gurung. All the songs and dances were strictly based on the culture and tradition of southern Bhutan. The onstage performances of Nepali Bhutanese youths and children, wearing different Nepali cultural dresses just stunned the audiences. The majority of the stage performances were dances from children to adult youths.

CABTAS awarded certificates of recognitions to the outgoing directors and area representatives for their valuable contributions made in accomplishing the objectives of the association. The CABTAS outgoing directors were the pioneers to establish CABTAS in Ottawa. Their noble vision and selfless effort to establish this association in Ottawa will be always remembered by the present and future Bhutanese Nepali generations.
CABTAS extends heartfelt gratitude to all the valued Guests, Committee Members from Canadian Bhutanese Association (CABTAS) Ottawa, CABTAS Cultural Committee, Representatives and the Family Members from Ottawa Bhutanese Nepali Community and the Bhutanese Nepali Youth Groups for sparing your precious time with us in helping make the Annual Cultural Program-2018 a grand success.
